Fire protection sandwich roof element with visible fastening

FischerFIREPROOF MW® D

Self-supporting sandwich elements with a non-combustible mineral wool core (MiWo) for lightweight industrial construction in accordance with DIN EN 14509: 2013 with visible fastening.

After choosing our MIWO elements FischerFIREPROOF MW to design your building envelope, we would now like to introduce you to our matching FischerFIREPROOF MW D sandwich element for the roof. These elements also meet the high fire protection requirements and are therefore ideally suited to construction projects with specific requirements. The mineral fibre sandwich elements FischerFIREPROOF MW D consist of a robust, non-combustible mineral fibre core and two facing layers made of surface-coated steel. This provides reliable protection for buildings and people.

Efficiency meets airtightness

To further improve the airtightness of FischerTHERM and FischerFIREPROOF MW roof and wall elements, including across element and construction-section boundaries, the Fischer Energy Saver can optionally be integrated at the factory. The Energy Saver consists of a soft joint insulation tape and an EPDM sealing profile with sealing lips. The Fischer Energy Saver can reduce energy consumption by up to 10%. In addition, the EPDM sealing profile reliably compensates for installation tolerances while maintaining a constant a-value.

Top priority

Fire protection

The Model Industrial Construction Guideline (MIndBauRL) regulates fire protection in industrial buildings, including fire resistance, the fire behaviour of building materials, the size of fire compartments, the arrangement of escape routes and effective firefighting operations. Industrial buildings that comply with this guideline fulfil the protection objectives of the Model Building Code (MBO). This makes it easier for building owners, design authors and specialist planners to plan industrial buildings, and for the authorities to assess and approve them, as exemptions or deviations from the applicable fire protection regulations do not have to be demonstrated in each individual case.

Resistance to flying firebrands The FischerFIREPROOF MW D roof element is additionally resistant from the outside to flying firebrands and radiant heat in accordance with DIN 4102, Part 7. FischerFIREPROOF MW D elements therefore meet the criteria for "hard roofing" in accordance with the premium guidelines of the German Association of Property Insurers. In accordance with DIN EN 13501-5, our FischerFIREPROOF MW D elements fulfil class BROOF (t1).

Fire walls and adjoining façade components The Industrial Construction Guideline (MIndBauRL) is a regulation governing the fire protection of buildings that are frequently constructed using sandwich elements. Some provisions of this guideline are identical to those of the Model Building Code (MBO) and the State Building Code (LBO). The main objective of this guideline is to establish minimum fire protection requirements for industrial buildings.

Section 5.10.3 of the MIndBauRL stipulates that suitable measures must be taken to prevent fire from spreading to other fire compartments and firefighting compartments.

For example, in the area of the fire wall or the wall separating the firefighting compartments, the specified external wall section (min. 1.0 m) must be constructed from non-combustible building materials. Our FischerTHERM plus elements in combination with FischerFIREPROOF MW plus fulfil these requirements for sandwich construction. The element joints are identical in design and can be installed without any additional measures, such as adapters.

Clearance rule for neighbouring buildings Requirement 5.12.2 of the MIndBauRL states that "if the distance from the external wall to the property boundary is less than 5 m, the external wall must be made of non-combustible building materials".

MIWO and PIR combination option

The combination option for fire compartment sections A solution for the roof combination is still under development.

Elements with thicknesses D100, D120, D140 and D160 will be combinable.

Joint variants

Standard elements are manufactured in the longitudinal joint without a labyrinth (Fig. 1). At the customer's request, an additional protective installation film (Fig. 2) can optionally be applied between the outer and inner skins. This serves as weather protection and installation protection during the construction phase.

Sealing variants

Standard elements are fitted with factory-applied sealing tapes on the A and B sides in the longitudinal joint (Fig. 4). The climatic conditions inside the building when it is heated are decisive for this. In principle, care must be taken to ensure that the panels are installed in an airtight manner.

The thermal properties of the wall elements can be further improved by the optional EPDM seal (Fig. 5) installed on the inside (B side). The EPDM Energy Saver seal enables additional energy savings of up to 10 percent.

FischerFIREPROOF MW® D LITE

The Lite core (FFL01) provides façade elements with significantly higher insulation performance than conventional products. A U-value from 0.141 W/(m2K) is possible.
